Step by Step Application Process for SY2026-27

Step 1: Complete the My School DC Application

Apply through My School DC, Washington, D.C.’s unified lottery for public and public charter schools and list all three DC Prep campuses as your top choices — starting with the location near your place of residence.

Application Deadline – March 2, 2026

Step 2: Lottery & Acceptance

DC Prep takes part in the My School DC lottery process, which places students in schools based on choices and seat availability. After a placement is offered, families are guided through the next steps to accept the seat and move forward with enrollment.

DC Prep participates in the My School DC Lottery, we are free and open to all DC residents.

Tips for a successful application:

Create 1 account per family, with a separate application for each child.
Ranking matters – rank all DC Prep campuses as your top choices, starting with the campus closest to your residence to increase your chances of being matched.
DC Prep waitlists are not carried over from year to year. Families must reapply.
