DC Preppies Celebrate National Poetry Month

April 28 2017 | School News

DC Prep has a longstanding tradition of celebrating poetry through student Poet Laureates at each of our graduation ceremonies. This year, we’re doing something extra. In honor of April’s National Poetry Month, we challenged a group of Edgewood Middle Campus Preppies to amplify their voice by writing and performing poems based on a “rethink” or “impact” theme.

Not only did our poet Preppies rise to the challenge, they soared beyond it! Poems dig deep on the twin themes, covering everything from rethinking stereotypes to making an impact on the wider world.

As this year’s National Poetry Month comes to a close, click here to enjoy our students’ poetic reflections!

What Parents are Saying

“Our family chose DC Prep because of its balanced focus on academic rigor and character development. Having DC Prep as an option ensures that my children learn personal responsibility and are exposed to the highest academic performance standards. The results speak for themselves. Families should not need to leave the city or pay for private school in order to give their children a high-quality education.”
