Erin Waldron is the Principal of the Benning Middle Campus. She joined DC Prep in 2013 and, in her tenure, has served as an Assistant Principal of Academics and Founding Faculty member at the campus, where she taught 4th grade Math in the school's inaugural year. Before joining the DC Prep team, Erin was a founding 6th grade math teacher with Teach For America in Brooklyn, and then became math department Chair and an Assistant Principal. She has a BS from Georgetown University and an MS from Teacher U at Hunter College.
Josh Goode joined DC Prep in 2010 and currently serves as the Benning Middle Campus Assistant Principal of Culture, where he leads efforts to build student culture across the school. Prior to this role, Josh served as a Dean of Student Support and Founding Faculty member at the campus. He also has experience as a 5th grade Science and Social Studies Teacher at DC Prep’s Edgewood Middle Campus. Outside of DC Prep, Josh has worked at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company. He received his BA from Georgetown University.
Meredith Rosenberg came to DC Prep in 2011 after completing two years as a Teach For America corps member in Metro DC. Currently, she serves as the Assistant Principal of Academics at Benning Middle Campus. Prior to that, she served as a 4th grade Math teacher and Department Chair at the Edgewood Middle Campus. Meredith has experience teaching Spanish in a Prince George’s County high school. Prior to teaching, she was a supervisor at a camp for 3rd through 5th graders. Meredith earned a BA from Colgate University and an MAT from American University.
Shana Conroy | Science Department Chair; 4th Grade Science Teacher
Shana Conroy joined DC Prep in 2015. Previously, she taught 5th grade science at DC Public Schools. Shana started her career in education as a 2010 Teach For America corps member in Los Angeles, and earned a BS from Trinity College.
Kristen Corliss joined DC Prep in 2015. Currently, she serves as the Student Support Coordinator for the Benning Middle Campus, where she provides a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate program of counseling and guidance for students. Prior to joining DC Prep, she was a special education teacher at KIPP: DC. Kristen began her career in education as a Capital Teaching Resident. She earned a BA from Siena College and an MEd from The George Washington University.
Matthew Guerrero joined DC Prep in 2012 as a member of Teach For America’s Metro DC cohort, where he served as the Senior Academy Special Education Teacher at Edgewood Middle Campus. Currently, he is the Special Education Coordinator at Benning Middle Campus, where he works to ensure that the school provides appropriate programs in the least restrictive environment for all students with special needs. Prior to DC Prep, Matthew volunteered in various high school classrooms. He has a BA from the University of California Santa Cruz and an MEd in Special Education from George Mason University.
Abby Harrington joined DC Prep in 2015. Prior to joining DC Prep, she was a Dean and Instructional Coach at Liberty Collegiate Academy in Nashville, TN. Abby started her career in education as a Teach For America corps member in Nashville teaching 5th grade ELA. Abby earned a BA from University of California, Berkeley and an MEd from Lipscomb University.
Micah Joselow joined DC Prep in 2014, originally serving as a 5th grade Math Teacher before transitioning into the Math Department Chair role. Prior to joining DC Prep, he was a 7th grade math teacher in Prince George’s County, Maryland as a 2012 Teach For America DC Region Corps Member. He holds an AB from Princeton University and is currently completing an MS at Johns Hopkins University.
Stephanie Layson | Director of High School Placement; 7th Grade Special Education ELA Teacher
Danielle Palmer, Psychologist, joined DC Prep in 2013. She has extensive experience in clinical Psychology, most recently serving as a case manager for the Devereux Children’s Behavioral Health Services where she developed individualized treatment plans and provided individual and group psychotherapy for adolescents and their families. As the School Psychologist at DC Prep, Danielle provides hands-on support working with teachers and families of students with disabilities to map out solutions to learning and behavioral issues. In addition, she provides individual and group counseling/social skills training, and also administers social-emotional and psycho-educational testing. Danielle received a BS from Howard University and an MA and Ph.D. in School Psychology, both from Michigan State University.
Lauren Sturner | Literacy Department Chair; 4th Grade Literacy Teacher
Lauren Sturner joined DC Prep in 2014. Before joining DC Prep, she was a Teach For America (TFA) Corps Member in DCPS. She has served as a Corps Member Advisor and a Literacy Specialist with TFA. She earned her BA from the College of William and Mary.
Andrea Baick joined DC Prep in 2014. Before joining DC Prep, she was a 2011 Teach For America Corps Member in Baltimore. Andrea earned a BA from Catholic University of America and an MAT from Johns Hopkins University.
Kyle Barrett joined DC Prep in 2015. Prior to joining DC Prep, he taught art for four years at Community Academy PCS in Northwest DC. Before moving to Washington, DC, Kyle taught for The Clay Studio’s community outreach program in Philadelphia, PA, and at various public, private, and parochial schools throughout Philadelphia. Kyle earned a BA in Art Education from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art in 2008.
Katie Brogan joined DC Prep in 2014. Prior to joining DC Prep, she was a 6th grade math teacher at KIPP DC. Katie was also a 2009 Teach For America Corps Member in New Orleans. She holds a BS from Virginia Tech.
Aryn Davis joined DC Prep in 2014. Previously, she was a special education teacher and Teach For America DC Corps Member. Aryn holds a BA from Howard University and an MEd from George Mason University.
Kyle Fahsel joined DC Prep in 2015. Previously, he worked as the School Development Fellow in Albuquerque, NM, helping to found Tech Leadership HS. Kyle started his career in education as a 2009 Teach For America corps member in North Carolina. He holds a BA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, as well as an MA from the University of Chicago.
Beth Fighera joined DC Prep in 2015. Prior to joining DC Prep, she was an instructional coach at Anacostia HS and previously worked with Teach For America as a program director and ELA training specialist. Beth began her career in education as a founding teacher at Cesar Chavez Public Charter High School. She holds a BA from the College of William and Mary and an MAT from Brown University.
Gregor Kelsey joined DC Prep in the 2013-14 school year as a founding 4th grade Science and Social Studies teacher at the Benning Middle School Campus. In 2014, he transitioned to the Home Office as a Talent Recruiter, supporting DC Prep’s ambitious expansion efforts before going back to the classroom in his current role. Gregor began his career in education as a Teach For America corps member in Milwaukee, WI, teaching 4th grade. He holds a BS and MEd from the University of Maryland as well as an MEd from Marquette University.
Nikki Petty joined DC Prep in 2014. Prior to joining DC Prep, she taught middle school science and reading at Cesar Chavez PCS. Nikki holds a BS from Indiana University and an MSW from the University of Michigan.
Rachana Raghothama joined DC Prep in 2014. Prior to joining DC Prep, she was a Teach For America Corps Member in the Mississippi Delta. Rachana also served as a Corps Member Advisor and Math Team Leader for Teach For America’s Delta Institute. She holds a BS from Purdue University.
Josie Smith joined DC Prep in 2014. Before joining DC Prep, she was a Teach For America Corps Member in Texas and worked as an English teacher at YES Prep. Josie holds a BA from Washington University in St. Louis, an MA from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MAT from Duke University.
Taneshia Smith joined DC Prep in 2014, originally serving as an Academic Intervention Fellow before moving into her current role. She has prior experience working with DC Public Schools. Taneshia holds a BA from Morgan State University.
Kayla Winters joined DC Prep in 2014. Prior to joining DC Prep, she was an 8th grade Math teacher at Achievement Prep and a DC Teaching Fellow. Kayla holds a BA from Hamilton College and is currently completing an MEd in Leadership and Policy at American University..
Jessica Richardson joined DC Prep in 2017. Jessica is an experienced former teacher who taught ESL, reading, and writing. She served as a Teach For America corps member in 2014 in Houston, Texas where she taught middle school English and was the English Department Chair. She also completed a Principal internship in Houston, where she managed a variety of school logistics, including Title I funding for afterschool programs, budget allocation, and the execution of end-of-year check-out procedures. Jessica has a BA in English from Alabama A&M University, and a MEd from Sam Houston State University.
Rachel Green joined DC Prep in 2016 and is a native Washingtonian. Prior to DC Prep, Rachel twice served in the AmeriCorps*NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) program. In addition, she has served on the events team at Friendship PCS. Rachel holds a BS in Sociology from Bowie State University.
Whitney Jenkins joined DC Prep in 2016. She has prior experience as an office manager for North Star Academy in Newark, NJ, as well as counseling experience with AmeriCorps. Whitney holds a BS from Rutgers University-Newark.
Priestly Mance joined DC Prep in 2014. Priestly oversees HVAC systems and building maintenance for both Benning Campuses. He is has 35+ years of HVAC experience working in a school environment and is a retired Boiler Plant Operator Supervisor from District General Services. Priestly holds a DC 1st Class Engineer License and a Universal CFC Refrigeration Certification.
